So as I’d mentioned before, The Trelona Chronicles project was started with the group from NaNoWriMo. For those that aren’t familiar with the term, it’s an acronym for National Novel Writing Month. It’s an even that’s held every November for the past decade and the goal of this event is to write a story that’s 50,000k words in the time span of 30 days, that breaks down to roughly 1667 words a day.
All in all, the process was rather intense, but since I was home most of the time I had more than adequate time to do this project. My favorite part of the experience were the write in’s where your group of WriMo’s would gather in one spot and just write with each other. Sadly this was only once a week minus Thanksgiving but if it weren’t for those I may not have the motivation to get to and pass my goal.
As far as the story itself goes, this will be a fantasy series if not duet (I haven’t decided yet). The story starts off with a flash back of a man trying to acquire items of power and hiding them from the ruling king of the time, only to be captured later and taken away. Moving into the first chapter, we meet a young man that will lose just about everything that was important to him, in fact we will meet three people like that, and see how in their own way, find a way to cope with their losses.
The overall plot? I’m not telling.
Will there be a sample? Possibly, after I restructure the prologue.
If you’re already past 50k words, how close are you to finishing?
… Excuse me while I fall off my chair laughing. Thing is, I’m only around chapter three of my story… yeah, it’s going to be a doozy for the editors and proofers (Sorry JennyBeth, I’ll send you a check for all this one day I swear). I do have the rest of the story outlined or at the very least a great deal of it. We’re looking at another 70-80,000 words left before I can call this rough draft finished.
